The first step to salvation

13 "For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?[c] And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent?"
Romans 10
You have to believe that Jesus is God.  That He lived a perfect life.  That He died on the cross and took your Eternal Hell for you.  That He rose from the dead.  Then you must repent of your sin and turn your back on everything including yourself.  You must have faith, saving faith, in Jesus by giving Him your whole life.

Once you have believed in Jesus that is the first step according to verse 14.
A person must believe in Jesus (unsavingly) in order to call on His name to believe in Him (savingly).
The Greek for, "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" is a continual and ongoing thing.
First you believe in Jesus.  Then you call and call and pray and pray and seek and seek until you give Jesus your whole life and are definitely savingly believing because you have given Jesus everything and He has given you Himself.

Many people believe in Jesus and go to Hell.
You can't just have a kinda sorta belief in Jesus.
You must believe in Jesus and call and seek after Him until you have Him and know it.
Believing in Jesus is like realizing your drowning in the sea.  So you call and scream and pray until Jesus comes in and saves you by having you surrender your life to Him fully.

Believe
Call on the Name of the Lord
Give your whole life to Jesus
Make sure it worked
